About Mwaleshi Camp

  • Close Panel

Mwaleshi Camp is one of the most remote and secluded camps in Zambia. It is one of only a handful of camps in the little-known North Luangwa National Park, one of the most untouched wildlife sanctuaries in Africa.

This comfortable bush camp consists of four double grass and pole chalets with en suite facilities. The chalets are set well apart and each has a scenic view of the Mwaleshi River, a clear stream feeding the Luangwa River. There is no electricity in camp and lighting is provided by solar storm lanterns. The bar and dining area overlooks the river. The camp is located at the heart of an area legendary for its abundant wildlife and in particular large populations of lion and vast herds of buffalo.

The remoteness is enhanced by the lack of roads and game viewing is conducted on foot, accompanied by a highly skilled and experienced guide and an armed escort scout. Guests should not expect to see as much game as they would at camps offering game-drives, but the game encounters here are more intimate, and the sense of wilderness unrivalled. Walking safaris generally last 3-4 hours, including a stop for refreshments. All in all, this is a perfect location for those seeking a true wilderness experience.

Pricing guidelines for Zambia

We hope the following will give you a rough idea of costs. These are quoted per person based on twin share for two people, without international flights but including internal flights. We’ve used good standard accommodation throughout. There are nearly always ways to spend more money than we’ve suggested (!), but these prices show a good and realistic range for each type of trip.

International flights will add from about £600 to £800 depending on the season and route (unless airlines have special offers). Zambia combines well with Malawi and Botswana.

For each accommodation on this website you will find an indication of the price. The bands are based on the price per person per night at peak season and are represented by the following values for this country:
