About Lufupa Tented Camp

  • Close Panel

Lufupa is a tented camp on the banks of the main Kafue River surrounded by riverine forest, woodlands and miombo bush. The area attracts many elephant and big cats and is a haven for birders.

The camp is at the confluence of the Lufupa channel and the Kafue River, surrounded by flood plains and woodlands. There are nine en-suite tented rooms, one being a 'family' room or suitable for two couples or friends sharing with two bedrooms and a shared bathroom.

All of the rooms have en-suite bathroom facilities and a verandah looking out over the river.

There is a main lounge/bar and dining area with a small plunge pool.

Adjacent to the Tented Camp is Lufupa River Camp, a larger area catering for self drives and room only guests which has a vast viewing deck and lounge area with a coffee bar, pizza oven and bistro style menus. There is also a campsite and swimming pool.

The Tented Camp has a seperate entrance and is self contained and all inclusive to fly in guests.

Pricing guidelines for Zambia

  • Open Panel

We hope the following will give you a rough idea of costs. These are quoted per person based on twin share for two people, without international flights but including internal flights. We’ve used good standard accommodation throughout. There are nearly always ways to spend more money than we’ve suggested (!), but these prices show a good and realistic range for each type of trip.

International flights will add from about £600 to £800 depending on the season and route (unless airlines have special offers). Zambia combines well with Malawi and Botswana.

For each accommodation on this website you will find an indication of the price. The bands are based on the price per person per night at peak season and are represented by the following values for this country:

  £50 to £150

I stopped at Lufupa for a look around whilst taking a boat transfer in the Kafue.  There are actually two camps here - the bigger 'lodge' and the tented camp.  The tented camp is exclusive but the small dining and lounge area could do with being bigger and more comfy - the main area at the 'lodge' seemed to have better facilities!  However, the Lufupa area is game rich and it's a good place to stop between the Busanga Plains and the rest of Kafue.
