Set on the crescent of a white sandy beach just 35 km south of Dar es Salaam, Ras Kutani consists of luxurious cottages and suites made from natural materials that blend with the environment. Ras Kutani is set on a lovely sandy beach, flanked by a freshwater lagoon and a coastal forest, home to monkeys, birds and civet cats. This is a perfect place to unwind before or after a safari.
The nine cottages have spacious accommodation including a large veranda equipped with day beds and hammocks, looking out towards the ocean and lagoon. There are four large suites set on the hill, all with private plunge pools too. In addition there is one family unit made up of two interconnecting cottages with a shared living area. All cottages and suites have en-suite bathrooms with hot and cold freshwater showers.
There are cool thatched areas for dining and the lounge bar and plenty of fresh seafood and gorgeous cuisine with a pan-African flavour.
Ras Kutani offers long stretches of deserted beaches in a lovely location - away from the masses of tourist lodges found on other parts of the coast. Relaxation is the main pasttime but for the more active there is snorkelling, kayaking on the lagoon, swimming or riding the waves on boogie boards. Nature walks along the beach or in the forest are popular and guided walks inland or to local villages can be arranged. There is also a spa offering massages and therapeutic treatments.
Ras Kutani can be reached from Dar es Salaam by road, which takes about 90 minutes, or by light aircraft, about 10 minutes. For the 2012 season, there are scheduled flights from Dar three times a week, timed to connect to domestic and international flights. Please contact us for details.
