About Serengeti Sopa Lodge

  • Close Panel
Looking out over the seemingly endless Serengeti plains, Serengeti Sopa Lodge is a hillside lodge in a tranquil oasis set in over 14,000 sq kms (5,000 sq miles) of National Park. The Serengeti plains are host to a dramatic annual migration of hundreds of thousands of wildebeest and numerous other species of animals indigenous to the area.

Serengeti Sopa Lodge is located in the Nyarboro Hills in the south west of the Serengeti National Park and is the only tourism development in this section of the Park. Year round water and the acacia woodland in this area create an ideal environment for the wide variety of wildlife seen in the immediate vicinity of the lodge. Being situated on the slopes of the hills the lodges offers magnificent views over the 14,763sq km (5,200sq. mile) expanse of the National Park, Tanzania's largest wildlife conservation area. Access to the lodge is via a tarmac highway to Mto wa Mbu, Karatu and the Ngorongoro Conservation Area highlands. The alternative is a one hour scheduled or chartered flight from Arusha to Seronera followed by a 45 minute drive through plentiful wildlife to the lodge.

Opened in 1992, the lodge can accommodate 170 guests in 79 suites, each having a lounge area with a mini bar, a bedroom with two queen size beds and ample room for a third, an en-suite bathroom and a private verandah which offers stunning views over the plains.

Pricing guidelines for Tanzania

  • Open Panel

We hope the following will give you a rough idea of costs. These are quoted per person based on twin share for two people, without international flights but including internal flights. We’ve used good standard accommodation throughout. There are nearly always ways to spend more money than we’ve suggested (!), but these prices show a good and realistic range for each type of trip.

International flights will add from about £600 to £800 depending on the season and route (unless the airlines have special offers). Tanzania can combine easily with other East African countries.

For each accommodation on this website you will find an indication of the price. The bands are based on the price per person per night at peak season and are represented by the following values for this country:

  £50 to £150
