About Nduara Loliondo

  • Close Panel

A totally unique style of camp in the Loliondo area adjascent to the Serengeti National Park in northern Tanzania, towards the Kenya border.

Run by Nomad Safaris, the design was created with a celebration of the nomadic tribes of the world in mind and is a combination of the tradional Mongolian Ger or Yurt construction, in combination with the local Maasai culture.

The 'rooms' are huge and there are only 12 beds in camp, so an exclusive personal feel remains here. The emphasis is on walking with the Maasai, learning about their culture, together with day and night game drives and bush walks. The camp moves between north and south Loliondo, depending on the time of year.

Each of the six large yurts has an en-suite spacious bathroom to the back of the main sleeping area with safari bucket showers and toilets. They have been designed with tall roofs to be as cool as possible having wrap around shade netting that can be moved during the day. There is a large dining yurt and a seperate lounge yurt with a library too.

The Loliondo landscape and game viewing is spectacular, there is a good amount of resident game all year and the migration passes through during the different seasons too. From December to June the camp is in the open plains of Piyaya where the village community are their partners. This area borders the Serengeti National Park, Ngorongoro Conservation Area and Gol Mountains. From mid June to December the camp is further north in Loliondo, where it is partners with the Ololosokwan village community. This area borders Kenyas Masai Mara and Serengeti National Park and is in excellent walking country with a mix of hills and woodlands.

In both locations at Nduara Loliondo, the emphasis is on walking safaris, off road and night safaris, none of which can be enjoyed inside the actual national parks. You have your own private guide and vehicle during your stay here.

Pricing guidelines for Tanzania

  • Open Panel

We hope the following will give you a rough idea of costs. These are quoted per person based on twin share for two people, without international flights but including internal flights. We’ve used good standard accommodation throughout. There are nearly always ways to spend more money than we’ve suggested (!), but these prices show a good and realistic range for each type of trip.

International flights will add from about £600 to £800 depending on the season and route (unless the airlines have special offers). Tanzania can combine easily with other East African countries.

For each accommodation on this website you will find an indication of the price. The bands are based on the price per person per night at peak season and are represented by the following values for this country:

  £50 to £150
