A small luxury tented camp in the far north of Serengeti National Park, close to the Mara River and the Kenyan border. Lemala Mara is a seasonal camp, open from June to October. There are other Lemala Camps in the central and Ndutu (southern) areas of Serengeti which are better placed for the migration at other times of the year.
In keeping with the other Lemala Camps in Northern Tanzania, this is a superbly appointed camp with huge luxurious tented rooms and large bathrooms. The lounge tent is furnished with comfortable sofas, lamps, books, chests and rugs. In the evening there is a camp fire where guests enjoy sundown drinks before dinner hosted by the camp manager. There are eight luxury tents and one family tent.
There is a large amount of resident game in the area with prides of lion sometimes 30 animals strong, but from June when the migration arrives the area is awash with animals. The wildebeest move through the area through to August into the Masai Mara but some large herds usually remain on the Tanzanian side and any changes to weather conditions can mean the vast numbers coming back in at any time.
At the camp's superb location, Lemala guests will be amongst the vast herds of migrating wildebeest and zebra. Two of the largest crossing points on the river are nearby and occasionally guests may observe the exciting crossings from the comfort of the camp. The spectacular Lamai triangle, Wogakuria kopjes and Kogatende airstrip are all very easily accessible.
As well as game drives, bush walks and bush breakfasts and lunches can be arranged.
