Set in the midst of an incredible vista of savannah and skies, sheltered in a grove of acacia trees is Ikoma Bush Camp (sometimes called Serengeti Tented Camp and under the umbrella of Moivaro camps). Ideally situated along the path of the migrating wildebeest between Kenya and Tanzania, the camp is situated at the border of the world-renowned Serengeti National Park. There you will find yourself on probably one of the best game drives in the area - along the western corridor of the park, taking in Kirawira and the Grumeti river - home to the infamous wildebeest-eating giant crocodiles.
Ikoma has recently upgraded new tents (2008) and attached bathrooms which all have towels, soap and bottled water provided with hot and cold running water. There are 31 semi-luxury traditional meru tents each under thatch with its own en-suite bathroom, modern furnishings and a private veranda. The central restaurant and bar area have a large camp fire - an ideal spot to unwind with a drink after a long days exciting game viewing. Or take room service drinks on your verandah and watch the wildlife across the plains. Because the camp is just outside the national park boundary, night drives and bush walks are carried out here which are fascinating, you can also visit local Maasai villages.
