About Kigelia Camp

  • Close Panel

Kigelia Camp is set amongst a grove of trees set high on the banks of the Ifuguru Sand River in Ruaha National Park and offers a traditional tented safari experience. There are just 6 spacious twin/double tents, all with ensuite bathroom complete with flush toilet and open air bucket shower. All tents have a private veranda where guests can relax and enjoy the views to and across the river. Soaps, shampoo and insect repellant are supplied in each tent.

The camp provides daily game drives in open sided vehicles, both in early morning and again in late afternoon. All day game drives can also be arranged, with picnic lunches, drinks and snacks. Guided walks with National Parks Rangers are also popular.

Back at the camp, delicious meals are served in the dining area or out in the open by the camp fire. There is plenty of choice of dishes and dinner is a 3 course affair. There is a good selection of wines to accompany the meals. There is a library with a range of reference books. Sand paths link the guests tents to the main living and dining area. Sundowners are served each evening by the camp fire where guests can relax and chat over the day's events.

Pricing guidelines for Tanzania

  • Open Panel

We hope the following will give you a rough idea of costs. These are quoted per person based on twin share for two people, without international flights but including internal flights. We’ve used good standard accommodation throughout. There are nearly always ways to spend more money than we’ve suggested (!), but these prices show a good and realistic range for each type of trip.

International flights will add from about £600 to £800 depending on the season and route (unless the airlines have special offers). Tanzania can combine easily with other East African countries.

For each accommodation on this website you will find an indication of the price. The bands are based on the price per person per night at peak season and are represented by the following values for this country:
£

  £50 to £150

  £150 to £300

I stopped here for breakfast and it was the best brekkie I had on the entire trip! The camp is gorgeous and the rooms are all really spacious with en suite bathrooms. The mess tent is more like a proper dining room, and is stylishly furnished. Vehicles are lovely! Very luxurious open sided 4x4. All seats are covered and extra padded for comfort over the bumps!
