The art of travelling with respect
There are some wonderful opportunities for trekking in the Ngorongoro Crater Highlands region - from an hour or two to many days. Many of the treks are arranged in cooperation with local Maasai communities, and often guided by Maasai, with their donkeys being used to carry the baggage.
These are tailored to suit your needs and can be included in a traditional safari holiday too. Hiking up the rift valley to Mount Makorot is a popular and very scenic option where you can include a visit to the Hadzabe people at Lake Eyasi. Or stay at Empakai Crater which is remote and beautiful - a botanical dream and full of flamingos at the bottom too!
The combinations are endless so ask us for a quote to suit your requirements. hiking trips of several days do involve camping, often at quite high altitude and can be cold at night, these hikes involve a good level of general fitness.
Accommodation (all camping supplies), all meals, park entry fees, guides and rangers, transfers.

Treks can be taken all year round, though you may want to avoid the rainy seasons (long rains March - May).
Return flights from London to Kilimanjaro range from about £650 - £900 per person depending on the time of year.

These are quoted per person based on twin share for two people, without international flights but including internal flights. We’ve used good standard accommodation throughout. There are nearly always ways to spend more money than we’ve suggested (!), but these prices show a good and realistic range for each type of trip.
International flights will add from about £600 to £800 depending on the season and route (unless the airlines have special offers). Tanzania can combine easily with other East African countries.
