Kudu and Coffee

This is a short break with impeccable responsible travel credentials, and including excellent gameviewing opportunities and superb walking in the foothills of Kilimanjaro

Kahawa Shamba is a traditional coffee 'shamba', or small farm, set in the lush slopes of Kilimanjaro. It is a community-based responsible tourism project hosted by the local farmers, and a stay here gives you unparalleled insight into the lives of the Chagga people who live here. The accommodation is unique, and the food by Mma Lema and her team, is superb.  Enjoy a warm welcome and a relaxed stay, perhaps taking in some walks in this stunning area. .

After your time in the hills, we recommend three nights at a luxury camp and time to explore Tarangire on safari.  Tarangire is a great and often undervalued park, with excellent game viewing opportunities (especially in the dry season).

Trip highlights

  • High quality game viewing in the Tarangire National Park.
  • A genuine opportunity to interact with local Chagga people.
  • Some beautiful hiking routes in a quiet, undiscovered area in the foothills of Kilimanjaro
  • Excellent fair trade holiday.
  • All attractions within easy driving distance of Kilimanjaro Airport.
