    About Serengeti Serena Safari Lodge

    • Close Panel

Serengeti Serena Safari Lodge is set high on a hill with breathtaking vistas of sweeping grasslands and the unspoiled wilderness landscape of the Serengeti plains. Big game feed in full view of the lodge, and the circular bar and ‘vanishing horizon’ swimming pool look down over the savannah, where the million wildebeest migration takes place in May.

The Lodge features thickly-thatched, stone-built rooms, spaciously set amongst groves of indigenous trees.  From the overall impression to the smallest detail, Seregenti Serena Safari Lodge is rich in local atmosphere created by indigenous handicrafts and art.  A water feature runs through the main public areas, creating a natural source of waterborne plants and providing a home to many indigenous species of reptiles, amphibians and birds.

Inspired by a traditional African village, separate rondavel ‘huts’ house the 66 luxury guest rooms at Serengeti Serena Safari Lodge. The uniquely crafted bedroom units maximize the use of local materials in order to blend with their surroundings. The grass capping of the roofs comes from locally occurring (but outside of the Serengeti Park) savannah grass. Each bedroom has its own self-contained private shower-room and toilet as well as its own wildwood balcony with views across the Serengeti plains. The rooms feature natural stone bathrooms, rope-lashed staircases, leopard-print drapes and intricately carved furniture.

The circular dining room is embellished with 'Makonde' carvings. The cuisine features time-honoured safari favourites, local specialities and internationally themed dishes.

Facilities at Serengeti Serena Safari Lodge include laundry, valet, babysitting, and children’s menus and internet connectivity. A nurse is on call 24 hours a day.  Beauty treatments, hairdressing and massage are available, and there is a gift shop and boutique.

The Serengeti National Park is 335 km from Arusha.  Serengeti Serena Safari Lodge is 30km from the nearest airstrip.

    Optional activities include:

  • Balloon safaris with champagne bush breakfasts
  • Game drives through the magnificent ecosystem of the Serengeti
  • Morning wildlife walks around the lodge with our resident naturalist
  • Bush breakfasts and barbecue lunches
  • Traditional displays of dance, music and cultural performance
  • Nightly wildlife and cultural talks, videos and film shows
  • A night’s adventure in a traditional khaki-and-canvas ‘fly camp’ pitched in the midst of the bush.

Being centrally located the Serena has easy access to Southern Serengeti when The Migration arrives (around the beginning of December until March.) It is also well placed when the animals head towards the Western Corridor (Normally April - June.)

    Pricing guidelines for Tanzania

    • Open Panel

We hope the following will give you a rough idea of costs. These are quoted per person based on twin share for two people, without international flights but including internal flights. We’ve used good standard accommodation throughout. There are nearly always ways to spend more money than we’ve suggested (!), but these prices show a good and realistic range for each type of trip.

International flights will add from about £600 to £800 depending on the season and route (unless the airlines have special offers). Tanzania can combine easily with other East African countries.

For a specific personal quote based on any tailor made itinerary you have in mind, please contact us and we’ll be happy to help you.
