About Olakira Camp

  • Close Panel

Olakira means 'star' in Maasai. The mobile nature of the camp allows it to move to the best areas for wildlife viewing with the seasons, early in the year usually being in the Southern Serengeti - Ndutu area and later in the more central area of the park.

Olakira Camp has just 6 guest tents and 2 common area tents. Large beds, wide private verandas, convenient bathroom facilities, a great lounge area and wonderful food served under the Serengeti stars ensure a fabulous all round experience. Bathrooms are extremely comfortable with shower, wash basin and an environmentally friendly toilet. The two common areas are split into a lounge and dining area and meals are taken either here or out under the stars or on your room verandah.

From June till November Olakira Camp will be located on the Mara River in Northern Serengeti where the Bologonja River meets the Mara River. From December till March Olakira is located in Ndutu.

Pricing guidelines for Tanzania

  • Open Panel

We hope the following will give you a rough idea of costs. These are quoted per person based on twin share for two people, without international flights but including internal flights. We’ve used good standard accommodation throughout. There are nearly always ways to spend more money than we’ve suggested (!), but these prices show a good and realistic range for each type of trip.

International flights will add from about £600 to £800 depending on the season and route (unless the airlines have special offers). Tanzania can combine easily with other East African countries.

For each accommodation on this website you will find an indication of the price. The bands are based on the price per person per night at peak season and are represented by the following values for this country:
£

  £50 to £150

  £150 to £300

  • Really enjoyed the service especially at Olakira where we stayed for several days. They really went above and beyond to accommodate our dietary needs.
