About Mchanga Beach Lodge

  • Close Panel

Mchanga Beach Lodge is a small stylish lodge on the North East coast of Zanzibar, a quiet secluded spot with easy access to nearby reefs for snorkelling and diving.

There are six sea view rooms and two garden suites. Shuttered louvre doors, high ceilings, fans and air conditioning provide a comfortable respite from the African heat. Hand crafted Zanzibari furniture, cotton sheets and colourful fabrics decorate the rooms. The rooms each have a sandy terrace with chairs where early morning tea is delivered to you. There are mosquito nets, low voltage lighting and hot and cold water. The two garden suites are very large and can accommodate up to four people, there are Baraza day beds or sofas in addition to the large four poster beds.

There is a restaurant is open air under Makuti shade thatch and provides fresh local foods cooked in the traditional Swahili way. Breakfast, lunch and dinner is available. There is a cosy 'Bar under the Palms' on the beach where you can enjoy refreshing cocktails, drinks and play Bao with the bar staff! There is a 'boule' court too.

There is a 13 metre freshwater swimming pool set at sea level on the beach. As the lodge is on the level with the beach, safe swimming is available year round, though note the tide goes out a long way at times, so the swimming pool is a good option!

Pricing guidelines for Tanzania

  • Open Panel

We hope the following will give you a rough idea of costs. These are quoted per person based on twin share for two people, without international flights but including internal flights. We’ve used good standard accommodation throughout. There are nearly always ways to spend more money than we’ve suggested (!), but these prices show a good and realistic range for each type of trip.

International flights will add from about £600 to £800 depending on the season and route (unless the airlines have special offers). Tanzania can combine easily with other East African countries.

For each accommodation on this website you will find an indication of the price. The bands are based on the price per person per night at peak season and are represented by the following values for this country:

  £50 to £150
