About Manyara Ranch

  • Close Panel

A private ranch on conservancy land close to Lake Manyara with a range of activities including day and night drives, and walks.

The people and wildlife live peacefully together here to provide a valuable section of conservation land. Manyara Ranch is a joint project of the Maasai communities, Tanzania Land Conservation Trust and Africa Wildlife Foundation. It protects natural wildlife migration corridors between Lake Natron, Lake Manyara, Tarangire and the Maasailands.

There are six large en-suite tented rooms all with flush toilets, hot and cold running water. There is generator and invertor power and a central charging area for cameras. There is a dining tent with indoor and outdoor dining space.

There are a huge range of activities on offer here including day and night drives, guided bush walks, Maasai cultural visits, local school visit, fly camping, visit to cattle ranch, bush meals, sundowners, wildlife viewing from hides, and you can even meet a traditional healer. Horse riding was available, but is now being phased out.

There is plenty of wildlife around the ranch including visits from elephant, giraffe and zebra. It is in a good position to visit either Lake Manyara or Tarangire national Park from here - or both without having to move accommodation.

Pricing guidelines for Tanzania

  • Open Panel

We hope the following will give you a rough idea of costs. These are quoted per person based on twin share for two people, without international flights but including internal flights. We’ve used good standard accommodation throughout. There are nearly always ways to spend more money than we’ve suggested (!), but these prices show a good and realistic range for each type of trip.

International flights will add from about £600 to £800 depending on the season and route (unless the airlines have special offers). Tanzania can combine easily with other East African countries.

For each accommodation on this website you will find an indication of the price. The bands are based on the price per person per night at peak season and are represented by the following values for this country:
£

  £50 to £150

  £150 to £300

I dropped in the visit this camp in March, but sadly it didn't have any guests when I came so it was msotly closed up. I did however see the location and the tents. I know this to be a high quality camp, and I liked the place it is set in. It is very much a bush camp, and this is fairly unique in this region. I hope you go back another day and see it when it's in full swing.
