About Lake Natron Tented Camp

  • Close Panel

Lake Natron Tented Camp is set back in a grove of trees slightly removed from the dusty terrain of the lake. There are many birds around the camp and just beyond the trees are the vast empty plains stretching to the lake with Ol Donyo Lengai 'puffing' in the background!

Permanent safari tents offer showers and comfortable beds and are equipped with mosquito nets and coils. A fully stocked bar and candle lit restaurant ensure you have a cold drink and delicious food at the end of a day out in the heat or hiking. The camp has 9 spacious walk in self-contained tents with lighting and running water. The bathrooms have showers, flush toilets, hand basins, soap, towels and bottled water. The tents have mosquito nets, coils, candles and matches.

There is also a campsite and 4 self contained mobile tents with electricity and running water and some tents with shared ablutions.

There are charging points for cameras and batteries. There is a restaurant, bar, room service, internet available (not guaranteed!) and laundry service. At night a campfire is lit and by day the trees and lovely gardens provide welcome shade.

Pricing guidelines for Tanzania

  • Open Panel

We hope the following will give you a rough idea of costs. These are quoted per person based on twin share for two people, without international flights but including internal flights. We’ve used good standard accommodation throughout. There are nearly always ways to spend more money than we’ve suggested (!), but these prices show a good and realistic range for each type of trip.

International flights will add from about £600 to £800 depending on the season and route (unless the airlines have special offers). Tanzania can combine easily with other East African countries.

For each accommodation on this website you will find an indication of the price. The bands are based on the price per person per night at peak season and are represented by the following values for this country:
£

  £50 to £150

  £150 to £300

  £300 to £500

I ended up staying here by accident when I got sick and needed a bed for the night!  They did a great job of looking after me and it's a lovely spot.  The problem with Lake Natron is it's so hot on the valley floor, but the rooms here are in the shade.  There is an abundance of insect life around the rooms and lights at night, so not great if you have a beetle phobia!!  I loved the Natron area, it's absolutely stunning ... if you love the wilderness and remote areas, go out there.

Julie Croucher, Africa Sales Manager, stayed here 2008
