About Kwihala Camp

  • Close Panel

Kwihala Camp consists of just 6 tents situated in a game rich area of northern Ruaha near Mwagusi Sand River. The emphasis is firmly on the wildlife and environment. The camp managers are experienced game guides and take guests out for game drives.

The canvas tents are spacious (40 square metres) and furnished with proper beds, bedside tables, dressing table, hanging space, rugs and curtains. There are elecrtic lights and facilties for charging batteries and cameras. The ensuite bathroom has a bucket shower and flush toilet. Each tent has a private, shaded veranda, complete with tradtional safari chairs.

The mess tent has separate dining and relaxing areas and has been tastefully furnished. There is ample room for guests to sit and chat over the day's events, while enjoying a cool drink from the bar. Evening meals are usually taken out in the open under the stars, weather permitting.

Kwihala has specially adapted open sided 4x4 vehicles, with raised seating for excellent game viewing. The drives take place in the early morning and late afternoon. The area around Kwihala is abundant in game, with lion, leopard, hyena, elephant, buffalo and zebra commonly seen. This is also a great region for bird watching, with some 220 species of birds. Kwihala also offers walking safaris and night drives depending on season. These can only be booked on arrival at the samp and must be paid for locally. They are offered subject to weather conditions and to the availability of the armed rangers.

Pricing guidelines for Tanzania

  • Open Panel

We hope the following will give you a rough idea of costs. These are quoted per person based on twin share for two people, without international flights but including internal flights. We’ve used good standard accommodation throughout. There are nearly always ways to spend more money than we’ve suggested (!), but these prices show a good and realistic range for each type of trip.

International flights will add from about £600 to £800 depending on the season and route (unless the airlines have special offers). Tanzania can combine easily with other East African countries.

For each accommodation on this website you will find an indication of the price. The bands are based on the price per person per night at peak season and are represented by the following values for this country:

  £50 to £150
