About Echo Beach Hotel

  • Close Panel

A small, friendly, owner run hotel on the South East coast of Zanzibar - the hotel is on a 5 acre strech of lovely sandy beaches and tropical palms.

The owners, Sue and Andrew Page, hail from England but spent many years in France running a chambre d'hote with acclaim for their food and hospitality. Echo Beach has been built and furnished by local tradesmen and designers usuing traditional Zanzibari build and artifacts.

There are currently 9 villas (or 'bandas') all privately spaced out with verandah areas overlooking the turquoise waters of the Indian Ocean. There is a family beach villa which can be used as a honeymoon suite. Two beach villas are 2 storey and 5 are single level, there are also garden cottages.

The tide does go out a long way on this stretch of coast, so the large swimming pool is a welcome cooling off spot on a hot day! There is also a jacuzzi for unwinding. On site there is a PADI dive centre and a beauty spa.

The restaurant is run by Andrew with his classic French training and local chefs using the vast array of ingredients featuring lots of lovely fresh seafood bought directly from the fishermen on the beach. The half board rates include a 3 course dinner and meals can be arranged al fresco or privately on your verandah.

Diving, snorkelling and other local excursions can be booked from the hotel.

Pricing guidelines for Tanzania

We hope the following will give you a rough idea of costs. These are quoted per person based on twin share for two people, without international flights but including internal flights. We’ve used good standard accommodation throughout. There are nearly always ways to spend more money than we’ve suggested (!), but these prices show a good and realistic range for each type of trip.

International flights will add from about £600 to £800 depending on the season and route (unless the airlines have special offers). Tanzania can combine easily with other East African countries.

For each accommodation on this website you will find an indication of the price. The bands are based on the price per person per night at peak season and are represented by the following values for this country:
£

  £50 to £150

  £150 to £300

  £300 to £500

Lovely small rustic hotel very tastefully built and decorated. As this is owned by an English couple, the European influence shines through. A good place for some relaxation!
