About Africa House Hotel

  • Close Panel

No visit to Zanzibar is complete without experiencing the regal ambiance of The Africa House Hotel. This famous landmark, which was once a royal residence before becoming The English Club has been beautifully restored and renovated.

Fifteen well-furnished deluxe rooms, all with en suite bathrooms offer great views across the rooftops of old Stone Town or the alluring Indian Ocean. Each room is equipped with aircon, satellite television, telephones, hairdryer, mini fridge, room service, laundry service and complimentary tea and coffee making facilities.

Retaining an atmosphere steeped in history and combining the charm of old world elegance and the comforts and conveniences of today, The Africa House is tastefully furnished throughout, with carpets from Persia, lamps from Morocco, marble from Italy, silk and velvet from China, bar deécor from England, antique four poster beds from Zanzibar and other paraphernalia from the Arabian Gulf and the rest of the world. Everything reflects a sense of place, history and tradition, creating an aura of timelessness.

Hotel services include: 24 hour reception, 24 hour security, safety deposit boxes, laundry service, and live entertainment. There are two restaurants, a bar, a games room and a nightclub.

Pricing guidelines for Tanzania

  • Open Panel

We hope the following will give you a rough idea of costs. These are quoted per person based on twin share for two people, without international flights but including internal flights. We’ve used good standard accommodation throughout. There are nearly always ways to spend more money than we’ve suggested (!), but these prices show a good and realistic range for each type of trip.

International flights will add from about £600 to £800 depending on the season and route (unless the airlines have special offers). Tanzania can combine easily with other East African countries.

For each accommodation on this website you will find an indication of the price. The bands are based on the price per person per night at peak season and are represented by the following values for this country:
£

  £50 to £150

  £150 to £300
