About Stone Camp

  • Close Panel

Stone Camp offers comfortable, quiet and relaxing accommodation in Mkhaya Game Reserve. The camp is located in rich riverine forests and has 12 stone and thatch semi-open cottages, linked by walkways. Each cottage is self contained and has ensuite bath or shower room. There is one large cottage, suitable for a family group. The camp's name derives from the rocks used to construct the cottages. Small game such as warthog visit the camp but larger game are kept out by an electric cordon.

Early morning and late afternoon game drives are provided in open land Rovers and give ample opportunity for spotting the wide variety of game in the reserve. As well as black and white rhino, guests may see antelope, elephant, hippo, giraffe, buffalo, zebra and even leopard. Guided bush walks are also offered allowing guests to get even closer to this special environment. This is also an area rich in bird life, many of which can be observed in the camp.

All meals are provided in the camp. Dinners are sociable buffet style affairs served al fresco in the thatched dining area. Guests may try special Swazi menus if they wish. The camp is staffed entirely by Swazis from the local communities, who are happy to perform traditional dances around the camp fire after dinner.

We hope the following will give you a rough idea of costs. These are quoted per person based on twin share for two people, without international flights but including internal flights. We’ve used good standard accommodation throughout. There are nearly always ways to spend more money than we’ve suggested (!), but these prices show a good and realistic range for each type of trip.

International flights will add from about £600 to £800 depending on the season and route (unless the airlines have special offers). South Africa combines well with Botswana, Mauritius and Mozambique.

For a specific personal quote based on any tailor made itinerary you have in mind, please contact us and we’ll be happy to help you.
