About Franschhoek Country House and Villas

  • Close Panel

Set in the picturesque wine-producing valley of Franschhoek, the Franschhoek Country House and Villas offers luxury rooms in a beautiful setting and fantastic food.

This restored manor house and former perfumery dating back to 1890 is situated on the outskirts of the village in the Cape wine lands and is surrounded by vineyards and majestic mountains, just an hour's drive from Cape Town.

The in-house Monneaux Restaurant is rated as one of South Africa's best and serves an inspired fusion of Western and Eastern influences. Lunch is served on the magnificent fountain terrace and dinner in the relaxed, yet elegant dining room. The wine list emphasizes some of the top wines of the region. The wine bar is open 0700 - 2300 hours, breakfast is full English or Continental and lunch and dinner are full A La Carte.

The Country House offers 14 luxury rooms - most lead out onto balconies or private patios. All rooms have luxuries and amenities including satellite TV, direct dial telephone. Some also feature fire places, under carpet heating and air-conditioning. There also also 12 butler-serviced Villa Suites offering the ultimate in luxury and are all 100sq metres in size.

Franschhoek has plenty to offer the visitor, with many restaurants, shops and craft centres as well as the wine routes. Wine-tasting on the farms in the area, or in the neighbouring towns of Stellenbosch and Paarl, is a popular tourist pastime. Cape Dutch architecture, gentle walks in the valley and tales of its Huguenot heritage are all part of Franschhoek's charm. Other activities such as horse riding, mountain biking and golf can be arranged from here.

Pricing guidelines for South Africa

  • Open Panel

We hope the following will give you a rough idea of costs. These are quoted per person based on twin share for two people, without international flights but including internal flights. We’ve used good standard accommodation throughout. There are nearly always ways to spend more money than we’ve suggested (!), but these prices show a good and realistic range for each type of trip.

International flights will add from about £600 to £800 depending on the season and route (unless the airlines have special offers). South Africa combines well with Botswana, Mauritius and Mozambique.

For each accommodation on this website you will find an indication of the price. The bands are based on the price per person per night at peak season and are represented by the following values for this country:

  £50 to £100
