Swartberg Country Manor is set on a working farm in the Cango Valley, the heart of the Klein Karoo, surrounded by the stunning Swartberg mountains. Guests are welcome to go for strolls around the farm, take hikes in the mountains, enjoy mountain biking or simply relax by the pool savouring the tranquil atmosphere.
There are 16 ensuite guest rooms set in 2 original farm buildings. The historical house dates back to 1865 and its 5 rooms overlook an old fig orchard. The rooms have a wealth of original features and the traditional decor enhances its historical feel. There are a further 11 rooms in the main house. This house also has a comfortable lounge with a long veranda offering great views of the mountains. In addition there are 3 cango cottages, each with 3 bedrooms, private braai area and veranda. The original bakery has been transformed into a luxurious honeymoon suite.
There are extensive gardens, complete with a swimming pool and sundeck. The restaurant, 'Patat', is housed in an old tobacco sorting shed and has been tastefully restored. The food here is delicious home cooked fare using fresh seasonal produce. There is also a good choice of wines to accommpany the food.
As well as exploring the farm with its cattle, sheep and ostriches, and the mountain foothills, guests can visit the nearby Cango Caves, Cango Wildlife Ranch and the ostrich farm. It is just a 15km drive to the top of the Swartberg Pass, with fabuluos views of the valley below.
