About Kapama River Lodge

  • Close Panel

Kapama River Lodge is situated in the Kapama Private Game Reserve located in the Limpopo Province, and forming part of the Greater Kruger Region. Occupying 13000 hectares of rolling savannah grasslands and riverine forests, Kapama is home to the famed ‘Big 5' (Lion, Elephant, Rhino, Buffalo and Leopard), along with many other mammal and bird species.

River Lodge, set beautifully on a dry riverbed, has 64 spacious rooms, all with full en-suite bathrooms and a terrace with uninterrupted views of the leafy-green bush. The guest areas consist of a large rim-flow swimming pool with umbrellas and loungers for those warm afternoons. The open plan lounge and bar has a double-sided fire place creating a lovely relaxing and cosy atmosphere. Buffet-style meals are served in The Rhino Boma area under low thatch, introducing Africa flavours using fresh local ingredients.

The lodge also has its name because it lies in a curve of the Kapama River, which is usually dry but floods from time to time and can even reach the steps of the lodge swimming pool. A small permanent water source lies just beyond Kapama River Lodge perimeter fence attracting animals like antelopes, elephant and buffalo.

Enjoy daily game drives throughout the reserve with an experienced guide and tracker, who will do their very best to locate the animals and give the best experience possible. Bush walks are also offered and certainly recommend, and give you the chance to learn about the smaller species and flora and fauna.

The latest addition to Kapama is the Wellness Centre, added in June 2008. Settled beautifully in the African bush, a variety of spa treatments and facilities are designed to uplift your mind, body and soul whilst enjoying the wonders of nature.

Pricing guidelines for South Africa

  • Open Panel

We hope the following will give you a rough idea of costs. These are quoted per person based on twin share for two people, without international flights but including internal flights. We’ve used good standard accommodation throughout. There are nearly always ways to spend more money than we’ve suggested (!), but these prices show a good and realistic range for each type of trip.

International flights will add from about £600 to £800 depending on the season and route (unless the airlines have special offers). South Africa combines well with Botswana, Mauritius and Mozambique.

For each accommodation on this website you will find an indication of the price. The bands are based on the price per person per night at peak season and are represented by the following values for this country:
