Umkhumbi Lodge offers luxury accommodation is 6 units in the unspoilt natural bush. The lodge's proximity to Hluhluwe-Umfolozi Park and iSimangaliso Wetland Park make this a wonderful place from which to explore the spectacular scenery and varied wildlife of the area.

All of the 6 lodges have 2 spacious bedrooms each with an ensuite bathroom with bath and shower. There are interconnecting doors between the bedrooms, making these ideal accommodation for families. Rooms are equipped with 'fridge, tea and coffee making facilities and air conditioning. All rooms have a private veranda where guests can sit and enjoy the views. When not out exploring, guests can relax by the swimming pool. The main building is the open fronted lapa which houses the dining room and treetop bar, from which guests can watch superb sunsets.  

Hluhluwe-Umfolozi Park is just 25 minutes drive from the lodge and offers superb opportunities for wildlife viewing including the Big 5 and over 300 species of birds. The fascinating iSimangaliso Wetland Park (formerly Greater St Lucia Wetland Park) with its variety of ecosystems and swamp forests is also within easy distance. Mkhuze, Tembe Elephant Park and Ndumo are all accessible from Umkhumbi Lodge and offer great game viewing. Snorkelling, diving and fishing can be enjoyed at Sodwana Bay, while there are chances for wildlife hikes in False Bay. Nearer the lodge there are numerous walking trails which can be explored independently or with a guide. kayaking and boat cruises are also popular pasttimes. The lodge arranges cultural visits to local Zulu villages and schools. Loggerhead and Leatherback Turtles are found in this area and in months of November to March guests can witness the spectacle of the females coming ashore to lay their eggs. It is also possible to visit the battlefield sites of Isandlwana and Rorkes Drift.

We hope the following will give you a rough idea of costs. These are quoted per person based on twin share for two people, without international flights but including internal flights. We’ve used good standard accommodation throughout. There are nearly always ways to spend more money than we’ve suggested (!), but these prices show a good and realistic range for each type of trip.

International flights will add from about £600 to £800 depending on the season and route (unless the airlines have special offers). South Africa combines well with Botswana, Mauritius and Mozambique.
