The most accessible region of the Kalahari Gemsbok National Park sits in a small triangle area between Namibia and Botswana and is home to the famous Kalahari Lions, cheetah, leopard, wild dogs and meerkats.
This protected area continues into Botswana (there are no fences) providing a large sanctuary for the wildlife.
The habitat is semi-desert but supports a wide range of species including 19 predators and over 200 bird species. Most of the wildlife concentrates around the river beds of the Nossob and Aoub which run through the park, meeting near the entrance at Twee Rivieren.
There are several rest camps in the park which have basic grocery supplies, there is a restaurant only at the main camp at Twee Rivieren. Fuel is also availble here. There are a selection of B&B accommodations offered mainly on farms between Uppington and the park, a journey of around 6 hours.
