About Red Stone Hills

  • Close Panel

Red Stone Hills holiday farm consists of 6 renovated cottages in a valley of vineyards surrounded by a range of colourful red stone hills, called Enon-conglomerate, displaying their own natural windows. These red/orange sandstones and mudstones were laid down 60 million years ago as sediments beneath water and then tilted by powerful pressures. Today these hills provide a colourful landscape. Bushmen paintings can be seen in some caves in the area. The cottages are 120m apart(except the Hanepoot Cottage).

All six cottages have spectacular views of the river, the red stone hills and the vineyards. Guests are assured of total privacy and tranquil surroundings. Bedding and towels supplied. The farm is stocked with ostriches, cattle, sheep, tobacco, maize and vineyards. Activities available include bird watching, hiking, horse-riding, mountain biking and swimming (in the river or pool).

Red Stone Hills is well located for visiting the Cango Caves, the Cango Wildlife Farm, Ostrich Show Farms, Calitzdorp hot springs, the Swartberg Pass and Meirings Poort (The Gorge).

Pricing guidelines for South Africa

We hope the following will give you a rough idea of costs. These are quoted per person based on twin share for two people, without international flights but including internal flights. We’ve used good standard accommodation throughout. There are nearly always ways to spend more money than we’ve suggested (!), but these prices show a good and realistic range for each type of trip.

International flights will add from about £600 to £800 depending on the season and route (unless the airlines have special offers). South Africa combines well with Botswana, Mauritius and Mozambique.

For each accommodation on this website you will find an indication of the price. The bands are based on the price per person per night at peak season and are represented by the following values for this country:
