About Amakhala Safari Lodge

  • Close Panel

Amakhala Safari Lodge is located near the northern boundary of the 7,000 hectare Amakhala Game Reserve, between Shamwari Game Reserve and Addo Elephant National Park in the Eastern Cape of South Africa.

There are 11 luxury air-conditioned thatched safari huts which include their own private plunge pools and separate lounge areas. All the safari huts and the central lounge look out towards a small waterhole where animals frequently come to drink.

All rooms are comfortably furnished and have ensuite bathrooms. The delicious cuisine here is based on local produce and the lodge serves excellent South African wines. Due to its location there are superb game viewing opportunities. Morning and evening game drives explore the game reserve and activities also include guided nature walks, river cruises, canoe safaris and bird watching.

Pricing guidelines for South Africa

We hope the following will give you a rough idea of costs. These are quoted per person based on twin share for two people, without international flights but including internal flights. We’ve used good standard accommodation throughout. There are nearly always ways to spend more money than we’ve suggested (!), but these prices show a good and realistic range for each type of trip.

International flights will add from about £600 to £800 depending on the season and route (unless the airlines have special offers). South Africa combines well with Botswana, Mauritius and Mozambique.

For each accommodation on this website you will find an indication of the price. The bands are based on the price per person per night at peak season and are represented by the following values for this country:

  £50 to £100

Really lovely, well thought-out and well designed camp. It feels luxurious without being pretentious. There is excellent attention to detail from the staff and they are all really friendly and helpful without being intrusive. The guiding here was excellent and our guides were extremely knowledgeable.
