Addo Elephant Park is a large park close to Port Elizabeth. As well as the elephants, it is now also a Big Five park, and home to kudu, eland, buffalo, red hartebeest, black rhino and many bird species.

Augrabies Falls National Park is about 120 km west of Upington in an arid area of the Northern Cape Province. It provides a sanctuary to a diversity of species, from birds and reptiles to springbok, gemsbok and giraffe.

Eight protected areas in the Western and Northern Cape of South Africa make up this region which is the smallest of the world's six plant kingdoms. Beautiful areas with massive variety of flora and amazing scenery.

The Cape Peninsula mountain chain runs from Signal Hill in Cape Town in the north, to Cape Point in the south (about 60km). It is flanked by the Atlantic to the west and False Bay to the east. It is a spectacular area including Table Mountain and the Cape of Good Hope.

The Cederberg mountain range is in the Western Cape and offers a true wilderness experience, popular with hikers and mountain bikers. There are unusual rock formations, mountains and some ancient rock art.

The dramatic mountain range of the Drakensberg curves around the border between KwaZulu Natal and Lesotho. They are the highest mountains in southern Africa. It is wild and rugged here, with spectacular scenery and it is a paradise for hikers.

This province sits between Western Cape and Kwa Zulu Natal and offers beutiful rugged coastlines and a wealth of great game reserves.

Centrally located in South Africa, Freestate Province has a rich cultural heritage and shares a long border with Lesotho. Dramatic mountain ranges and wilderness areas mix with farming and crafts. The capital city of Bloemfontein with it's history and musuems provides the business centre and transport hub with train links also to the Cape.

South Africa's legendary Garden Route runs for about 220km from Mossel Bay to Storms River (west of Port Elizabeth), taking in some of the most stunning scenery of the Cape coast: lakes, mountains, fantastic beaches, and coastal forests.

Gauteng is the smallest of South Africa's provinces and home to the capital, Pretoria. It is a business and shopping centre and also has interesting mixes of culture and a range of sight seeing options.

Joining on to Kruger National Park are an area of private reserves, which expand the area that wildlife is free to roam. With private roads and tracks these are fantastic places to see the big 5 and explore on foot without the mass traffic of the main Kruger Park.

The Hluhluwe-Umfolozi Park is renowned for its variety of animal and bird life, and a varying landscape of valleys, hills, forests, rivers, thicket and savannah.

Close to the southern border of Swaziland, Itala Game Reserve is a very scenic and mountainous park covering about 30,000 hectares in the north of KwaZulu Natal.

The Kalahari Gemsbok National Park sits in a small triangle area between Namibia and Botswana and is home to the famous Kalahari Lions, cheetah, leopard, wild dogs and meerkats.

Karoo National Park in South Africa's Western Cape is part of the larger Great Karoo, a huge area of semi-desert dominated by the Nuweweld Mountains.

Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park is a large wildlife preserve and conservation area in southern Africa. The park straddles the border between South Africa and Botswana and comprises two adjoining national parks: Kalahari Gemsbok National Park in South Africa and Gemsbok National Park in Botswana.

Knysna is a coastal town famous for it's lovely beaches and it's oysters but is also an attraction for the unique coastal forest that meets the Indian Ocean. Plenty to do in the region from hiking and biking to sampling the many restaurants!

One of the best known and largest game parks in South Africa, Kruger draws safari lovers from all over the world and offers superb wildlife viewing opportunities.

This large province is a centre for hiking in the Drakkensburg, the warm beaches of the Indian Ocean and several top class game reserves.

The Limpopo is a mix of hot plains and misty mountains, a wonderful wilderness area for walking and bush activities, especially popular for horse riding safaris.

Madikwe covers 75,000 hectares in the north west of South Africa, adjoining the border with Botswana, about 4 hours drive from Johannesburg.

A sanctuary for the rare black rhino, Mkhaya is also home to white rhino, elephant, the rare roan antelope and other antelope, wildebeest, zebra and more. You will also see a lot of Nguni cattle (long-horned) in amongst the wild animals.

Mkuze Falls is a private game reserve in a stunning location in the heart of Kwa Zulu Natal. Home to the big 5 and over 400 bird species.

Linking Gauteng province and the international airports to the Kruger region, Mpumalanga has a lot to offer the visitor including the beautiful Panorama Route.

Bordering Botswana in the north of South Africa, the North West Province offers a range of interests for the visitor including safari in Madikwe Game Reserve and several attractions within easy reach of Johannesburg.

The largest of South Africa's provinces but one of the least populated. Northern Cape borders both Namibia and Botswana and has stunning landscapes and wilderness areas.

The centre of the Klein Karoo, this region is famous for Ostrich farming and is of great interest to geologists and botanists as well.

Plettenberg Bay and its surrounding area are one of the most beautiful stretches of coast in South Africa. Close to Knysna and Tsitsikamma there are endless activities and sightseeing opportunities.

Situated on the Maputaland coast, St Lucia is the largest estuarine lake system in Africa.

A beautiful area to the north inland of Cape Town that encompasses some of the world's finest vinyards and interested 'cape dutch' architecture.

The Tsitsikamma National Park is a coastal reserve on the Garden Route in South Africa. It is well known for indigenous forests, dramatic coastline, and the Otter Trail.

Home to the winelands, garden route, crashing Atlantic shores and warm Indian Ocean plus of course the cosmopolitan city of Cape Town, the Western Cape has plenty to offer the visitor.

The Whale Coast as the name suggests, is prime whale watching coastline and offers stunning beaches and cliff paths to sight these magnificent animals from.
