We really valued having planned a trip which included experiences of black South Africa and Lesotho alongside the standard sea and safari destinations and met other tourists who realised that they probably could have done so too but it hadn't been suggested to them.

The holiday made us more aware of social problems (overcoming apartheid) that SA is coming to grips with. We got a better understanding from the black africans that we talked to, about their struggle to get decent jobs and the inequality that still is somewhat present.

Our memories of South Africa will be of the many friendly local people we met, the hospitality of the lcoal people, the sheer size of the area we visited. Visiting the townships in Port Elizabeth was exciting and eye-opening - much is being done to improve the future opportunities of the local Tribes and we were left with the impression that the future is bright.
