Set in a spectacular area of Amakhala Game Reserve this lodge offers 5 thatched rooms with unique and amazing views from their individual wooden decks.

Amakhala is a family run, malaria free reserve close to Port Elizabeth.

Guest sare accommodated in five comfortably appointed stone-and-thatch cottages, each with air-conditioning and en-suite bathroom. Each room is set on it's own where visitors can enjoy the unique and breathtaking views at their leisure. Elephants are often seen walking by in the late afternoon.

There is an atmospheric evening fire where guests gather for drinks and nibbles before a lovely meal of fresh local flavours served with excellent South African wines. Breakfasts are served on the deck of the dining room.

Game viewing here includes day and night game drives guided by experienced rangers. There is also the option of a river cruise (with cheese and wine!) and canoeing is also on offer. Relaxing by the pool is another popular pastime.

We hope the following will give you a rough idea of costs. These are quoted per person based on twin share for two people, without international flights but including internal flights. We’ve used good standard accommodation throughout. There are nearly always ways to spend more money than we’ve suggested (!), but these prices show a good and realistic range for each type of trip.

International flights will add from about £600 to £800 depending on the season and route (unless the airlines have special offers). South Africa combines well with Botswana, Mauritius and Mozambique.

For each accommodation on this website you will find an indication of the price. The bands are based on the price per person per night at peak season and are represented by the following values for this country:
