About Tranquility Lodge

  • Close Panel

Enjoy getting back to nature in this lovely guest house accommodation at Tranquility Lodge in the Tsitsikamma Forest National Park of South Africa.

Perfectly positioned where ocean and forests meet, this lodge offers luxury guest accommodation on the garden route. Each guest room is allocated a double sit-on-top kayak from which you can explore the lagoon and its fantastic birdlife. There is also a hotpool where you can relax and enjoy the silence of the Tsitsikamma forest.

The lodge is built from mainly wooden structures and blends into the surrounding indigenous forest.

There are two complimentary excursions - The first is a bridge walking tour on the Bloukrans River Bridge - home to the worlds highest commercial bungy jump and Africa's highest bridge. The second is a tour of the local mampoer distillery located on the Buffalo Hills Game Reserve. Many other things to do in the area include:

  • Bloukrans Bungy: This is the World's highest commercial bungy jump at a whopping 216 m high! An experience of a lifetime!
  • Flying Fox: The newest adventure at Bloukrans Bridge, it is a 200m Cable Slide (“Foofie slide” for our South Africans) out onto the archway of the bridge.
  • Bridge walking tours: are also on offer at the Bloukrans Bridge for the non-jumpers.
  • Buffalo Hills Game Reserve: Game Drives & Traditional Mampoer Distillery Tours. See Buffalos, Rhinos, Giraffes, Zebra and a variety of other antelope species. Great birding opportunities.
  • Monkeyland: Visit this free-roaming primate sanctuary where you can interact in the monkey's natural surroundings.
  • Tree Top Canopy Tours: the first of its kind in Africa. Explore the Tsitsikamma forest while traversing 30 m above the forest floor on cable slides -no experience is needed. Great for the whole family!
  • Otter Trail in Tsitsikamma National Park: the famous Otter Trail begins and ends right here in Natures Valley. Walk the suspension bridge or go for a picnic while looking out for whales and dolphins. Picnic baskets can be arranged on request.
  • Whale and Dolphin Boat Cruises: the Plettenberg Bay area is world famous for the amount of marine life it has to offer in its bay. Come explore our bay on a 2-hour trip to search for Whales, Dolphins, Seals and other marine life. Our Winter season is the main Southern Right Whale migration time where whales are abundant in our waters. Dolphins are seen year round.
  • Scuba Diving: there are numerous fantastic dive sites departing from Plettenberg Bay or from the Tsitsikamma National Park. Snorkelling routes are also available in the National Park.
  • Yacht sailing charters: Sail the beautiful Knysna lagoon on the magnificent “Outeniqua” luxury yacht. There a number of cruising options available.
  • Abseiling: There are a number of sites available in and around the area, from the Knysna heads, to the Kranshoek Waterfall abseil, to various options in the Tsitsikamma.
  • Horse riding: There are several stables providing out rides in the area to enjoy the local indigenous forests or fynbos areas.
  • Waterfall Adventure: Enjoy eight fantastic zip-line slides over the Tsitsikamma waterfalls in this 2 and a half hour long adventure.
  • Quad biking: Enjoy an hour and 15 minutes of following a professional guide on a quad trail. Refreshments included
  • Snake sanctuary: Experience a one hour guided tour consisting of an indigenous snake pit, a boomslang exhibit, a monitor lizard enclosure, a large dome housing South African and exotic snakes, followed by a huge python room housing giant constrictors.

    Pricing guidelines for South Africa

    • Open Panel

We hope the following will give you a rough idea of costs. These are quoted per person based on twin share for two people, without international flights but including internal flights. We’ve used good standard accommodation throughout. There are nearly always ways to spend more money than we’ve suggested (!), but these prices show a good and realistic range for each type of trip.

International flights will add from about £600 to £800 depending on the season and route (unless the airlines have special offers). South Africa combines well with Botswana, Mauritius and Mozambique.

For each accommodation on this website you will find an indication of the price. The bands are based on the price per person per night at peak season and are represented by the following values for this country:
    £

      £50 to £100

    ££

      £100 to £200
