Shonilanga Lodge is located in the greater Johannesburg suburbs and is a perfect base from which to explore the area. Shonilanga Lodge is a tranquil taste of old Africa in an intimate environment, a stone's throw from Johannesburg. Accommodation is a combination of double and family rooms, all under thatch and situated alongside an orchard. All rooms have individual access off a tranquil courtyard. The family restaurant with bar offers a variety of light meals and teas throughout the day, including farmhouse style breakfasts.

Shonilanga is near several shopping malls and there are also a number a game parks and nature reserves within an hour's drive. From here guests can visit various cultural sites including Lesedi Culutral Village, 'The Cradle of Mankind' world heritage site and Soweto. Other possible activities include horse riding and balloon flights.

We hope the following will give you a rough idea of costs. These are quoted per person based on twin share for two people, without international flights but including internal flights. We’ve used good standard accommodation throughout. There are nearly always ways to spend more money than we’ve suggested (!), but these prices show a good and realistic range for each type of trip.

International flights will add from about £600 to £800 depending on the season and route (unless the airlines have special offers). South Africa combines well with Botswana, Mauritius and Mozambique.
