About Rocktail Bay

  • Close Panel

Rocktail Bay Lodge is located within the Greater St Lucia Wetland Park, one of South Africa's World Heritage Sites. Enjoying a secluded setting, the lodge is situated just metres inland from the warm Indian Ocean and offers one of the most exclusive beach experiences in South Africa, with nearly 40kms of pristine coastline. Rocktail Bay Lodge is the ideal escape for people who truly want to relax and unwind on one of the wildest coastlines anywhere on earth.

Accommodation is in 11 wooden tree-house chalets, which are raised on stilts into the forest canopy. Each twin-bedded room has its own private deck, ensuite bathroom and an additional outdoor shower. A boardwalk winds from the lodge, through the dune forest and down to the beach. Each chalet offers guests total seclusion, tranquility and time to relax and enjoy the forest surroundings. There is one family chalet with one main room, and a second room with two single beds.

There are numerous activities to be enjoyed, from diving and snorkelling to guided walks and nature drives through the coastal forest and grasslands. Other activities include fishing, boating, bird watching and horse riding. Guest can also relax at the lodge on the deck by the swimming pool.

Pricing guidelines for South Africa

We hope the following will give you a rough idea of costs. These are quoted per person based on twin share for two people, without international flights but including internal flights. We’ve used good standard accommodation throughout. There are nearly always ways to spend more money than we’ve suggested (!), but these prices show a good and realistic range for each type of trip.

International flights will add from about £600 to £800 depending on the season and route (unless the airlines have special offers). South Africa combines well with Botswana, Mauritius and Mozambique.

For each accommodation on this website you will find an indication of the price. The bands are based on the price per person per night at peak season and are represented by the following values for this country:
