    About Rhino Post Safari Lodge

    • Close Panel

Rhino Post Safari Lodge is located in the 12000 hectare Mutlumuvi private concession in Kruger National Park. It borders Sabi Sands and makes a great base from which to explore this game rich area.

Accommodation is in 8 spacious suites with thatched roofs and canvas sides. All have a bedroom, ensuite bathroom plus outdoor shower, and verandah with comfortable chairs. The tents are built on stilts and each room overlooks the (mostly dry) riverbed.

There is a central lounge with fireplace and bar, the perfect spot for relaxing with a sundowner after a day's game viewing. The dining area is shaded by Tamboti trees and you can enjoy delicious meals , either indoors or out. There is a swimming pool where you can cool down, and you can always watch the waterhole, which is very often busy.  Dining, picnics and sundowners can also be taken out in the bush or in dry riverbeds.

This lodge was built with great care and attention to minimise impact on the environment.  There was no concrete used, lighting is batter powered and there is a special reed bed filtration system that processes waste water.

Game drives offer excellent chances of spotting not only the Big 5 for which the areas is renowned, but also many other animal and bird species. Guided walking safaris are also offered, allowing guests to get even closer to this wonderful environment.

The early morning game drive begins at about 6am, followed by brunch and a siesta. Then after a high tea at 3.30, there is an afternoon/evening game drive until about 8pm. The specially adapted open sided vehicles are driven by professional guides. As throughout the Kruger National Park, there is no off-road driving here, to preserve the natural wilderness. The lodge take game drives both in the public areas of Kruger, and also in the concession, but the roads in the concession are limited.  After dark, Rhino Post has exclusive use of some of the public roads inside the main Kruger Park for night drives.

If enough vehicles are available, guests may also opt for half or full day game drives with picnic lunches - these can be arranged direct at the lodge.  Walking safaris are also available from the lodge, lead by highly qualified senior guides who make sure that you are well informed and kept safe.

    Rhino Walking Safaris
Operating in the same concession, Rhino Post has another camp, 'Plains Camp' with just 4 large tents, and this camp is mostly a walking safari camp. For the more adventurous, there is also a Sleep Out platform. This is fly camping under the stars on elevated wooden platforms (weather dependant), you can explore the private concession on foot to get close to the African wilderness.

    Pricing guidelines for South Africa

    • Open Panel

We hope the following will give you a rough idea of costs. These are quoted per person based on twin share for two people, without international flights but including internal flights. We’ve used good standard accommodation throughout. There are nearly always ways to spend more money than we’ve suggested (!), but these prices show a good and realistic range for each type of trip.

International flights will add from about £600 to £800 depending on the season and route (unless the airlines have special offers). South Africa combines well with Botswana, Mauritius and Mozambique.

For a specific personal quote based on any tailor made itinerary you have in mind, please contact us and we’ll be happy to help you.
