Motswari private game reserve is located in the northern part of the the Timbavati in Greater Kruger Park. The 150 square kilometres are home to a wide variety of wildlife including the Big 5. The lodge has been operating for over 30 years and is owned and managed by the Geiger family who, along with their Shangaan staff, provide a warm welcome and relaxing atmosphere.

There are 15 rondavel-style rooms, all with air conditioning and en-suite bathrooms. The rooms are attractively furnished with natural textiles. 2 rooms are interconnecting, ideal for familes, while a further 5 rooms can accommodate a third bed. Children from 6 years old are welcome at Motswari.

Motswari has a 6 specialist wildlife guides, all local to the area. Guests enjoy game drives at both sunrise and sunset. Guided walking safaris are also available. The game reserve has a 25 kilometre unfenced border with Kruger National Park and wildlife sightings are superb. As well as the Big 5, guests here can expect to see cheetah, giraffe, wild dogs and various antelope and gazelle. Nocturnal animals include honey badger, hyena, bush babies and owls. There are also over 350 species of birds, making this a great bird watching destination.

Between game viewing activities guests can relax at the lodge, enjoying the delicious food, usually served al fresco on the veranda, deck or camp boma. There is also a spacious lounge, 2 licensed bars, a library, art gallery/reading room, a curio shop and a swimming pool. Motswari has wifi and internet access.

We hope the following will give you a rough idea of costs. These are quoted per person based on twin share for two people, without international flights but including internal flights. We’ve used good standard accommodation throughout. There are nearly always ways to spend more money than we’ve suggested (!), but these prices show a good and realistic range for each type of trip.

International flights will add from about £600 to £800 depending on the season and route (unless the airlines have special offers). South Africa combines well with Botswana, Mauritius and Mozambique.
