About Jan Harmsgat Guest Farm

  • Close Panel

Jan Harmsgat Guest Farm is an exclusive country bed and breakfast guest house on an historic farm in the beautiful Klein Karoo. It is located between the towns of Swellendam and Ashton. The spacious accommodation is in the farm's original slave quarters and consists of 4 large en-suite rooms with an adjoining lounge. 2 loft rooms and the guest lounge boast expansive mountain views. Guests may relax by the swimming pool with a book from the library or explore the farm and surrounding wine routes, as well as museums and heritage sites in nearby Swellendam, the third oldest town in South Africa, and surrounding areas.

The Western Cape has a wealth of vineyards, many of which are currently undergoing a revival, which produce some of South Africa's finest wines and welcome visitors for wine tasting. Some of the attractions in the South West Cape include: the Robertson Wine Route, Montagu (with its hot mineral springs), the Breede River, Bontebok Park, Cape Agulhas and the De Hoop Nature Reserve (offering exceptional whale-watching in season).

Pricing guidelines for South Africa

  • Open Panel

We hope the following will give you a rough idea of costs. These are quoted per person based on twin share for two people, without international flights but including internal flights. We’ve used good standard accommodation throughout. There are nearly always ways to spend more money than we’ve suggested (!), but these prices show a good and realistic range for each type of trip.

International flights will add from about £600 to £800 depending on the season and route (unless the airlines have special offers). South Africa combines well with Botswana, Mauritius and Mozambique.

For each accommodation on this website you will find an indication of the price. The bands are based on the price per person per night at peak season and are represented by the following values for this country:

  £50 to £100
