About Babanango Valley Lodge

  • Close Panel

This lovely lodge is in a stunning setting looking across to surrounding hills and valleys. There is a gorgeous swimming pool in the well kept gardens, providing the ideal place to relax after exploring the area. On warm sunny mornings, breakfast is served on the patio and in the cool evenings enjoy pre-dinner drinks round a log fire in the house. There are nine en-suite comfortable bedrooms.

Enjoy the space and beauty of the Babanango Private Nature Reserve where there are 30km of self-guided trails, as well as the birds and flowers you may come across zebra and impala along the way. Guided walks are also available. You can take a picnic from the lodge and self drive to the many attractions in the surrounding area.

The famous battlefields are the main interest in the area and sites which can be visited (ideally with a local guide) include early Zulu history and the rise of the Zulu Nation; the Zulu-Boer Conflicts, focussed mainly around 1838; the Anglo-Zulu War of 1879 and the Anglo-Boer War of 1899-1902.

You can also stay overnight in the valley at the lodge's Rock Pools Bush Camp, a private luxury tented camp on a personal stretch of a rocky river in the bush.

Pricing guidelines for South Africa

  • Open Panel

We hope the following will give you a rough idea of costs. These are quoted per person based on twin share for two people, without international flights but including internal flights. We’ve used good standard accommodation throughout. There are nearly always ways to spend more money than we’ve suggested (!), but these prices show a good and realistic range for each type of trip.

International flights will add from about £600 to £800 depending on the season and route (unless the airlines have special offers). South Africa combines well with Botswana, Mauritius and Mozambique.

For each accommodation on this website you will find an indication of the price. The bands are based on the price per person per night at peak season and are represented by the following values for this country:
£

  £50 to £100

  £100 to £200

  £200 to £300
