Amakhala Safari Lodge

Amakhala Safari Lodge is located near the northern boundary of the 7,000 hectare Amakhala Game Reserve, between Shamwari Game Reserve and Addo Elephant National Park in the Eastern Cape of South Africa.

There are 11 air-conditioned thatched safari huts, 7 of which offer suite accommodation including their own private plunge pools and separate lounge areas. All the safari huts and the central lounge look out towards a small waterhole where animals frequently come to drink.

All rooms are comfortably furnished and have ensuite bathrooms. The delicious cuisine here is based on local produce and the lodge serves excellent South African wines. Due to its location there are superb game viewing opportunities. Morning and evening game drives explore the game reserve and activities also include guided nature walks, river cruises, canoe safaris and bird watching.

Highlights

  • Superb location in Amakhala Game Reserve, known for its diverse fauna and variety of game.
  • Big 5, malaria free reserve.
  • Comfortable, tented accommodation with ensuite bathrooms.
  • Excellent guided game drives, cruises and walks.

Viewpoints

Amakhala was excellent and exceeded our expectations. The lodge looked after us really well. It was good that local people were employed there and their views on the environment and conservation were very responsible.
