Run by South African National Parks, the Addo Rest Camp provides a range of accommodation in this popular wildlife destination.
There are chalets, rondavels, tents and camping pitches available, mostly booked on a room only basis with self catering facilities. There is a fully serviced restaurant and shop so you can buy meals direct and the rooms are all quite close to the main buildings with office and communication facilities. There is also a swimming pool.
A main attraction of this camp is the floodlit waterhole where guests frequently observe animals coming to drink after dark. There is also an 'underwater' viewing hide to see things closer inside the waterhole. There is a bird hide and for keen bird watchers, nearly 200 species are seen in the main central game viewing area, though the entire Addo region is thought to be home to more like 400 species.
Guided drives can be booked with the reception if you wish, but most guests self drive and this is the only park in the area where self driving is permitted.
Horse trails for both beginners and experienced riders can be booked at the reception. We would suggest booking in advance if you wish to do this.
As well as the famous elephants, other animals to search for here include buffalo, lion and rhino.
