    • Close Panel

Abalone is part of the 'Shell Lodges' collection and is a 4 star property located at Sievers Point in Hermanus which is one of the best land based areas for whale watching in Hermanus.  It is situated between the beaches and the town centre and borders a cliff path with a green belt of Fynbos which takes you to the spectacular views of Sievers Point.  The area also attracts a variety of birds.

This is a very artistic guest house with South African artwork in the decoration.  The rooms are well appointed en-suites with a mix of twins and doubles and enjoy either a sea, mountain or garden view with private balaconies or patios.  The rooms have tea and coffee making facilities, hairdryers, overhead fans, telephone, television, robes, underfloor heating and are all serviced daily and non-smoking.

The public areas include a louge with fireplace and fantastic sea views.  Complimentary hot drinks are available thorughout the day and complimentary drinks are served between 1800 and 1900, you must pre-book for dinner. Meals are served on the deck whenever weather permits.  There is a swimming pool in the lovely gardens which is protected from the wind and faces the mountain, getting afternoon sunshine.  There is a library and TV room with sea views.

In the nearby area there are many restaurants, bars and craft shops, cliff path walks, Fernkloof Nature Reserve and the Old Harbour.  Actitivies availably locally include land based whale watching, fishing, golf, tennis, hiking, sea kayaking.  Further afield are whale watching by boat, diving, absailing, quad biking, game fishing, river boating and various ocean based adventures.

    Pricing guidelines for South Africa

    • Open Panel

We hope the following will give you a rough idea of costs. These are quoted per person based on twin share for two people, without international flights but including internal flights. We’ve used good standard accommodation throughout. There are nearly always ways to spend more money than we’ve suggested (!), but these prices show a good and realistic range for each type of trip.

International flights will add from about £600 to £800 depending on the season and route (unless the airlines have special offers). South Africa combines well with Botswana, Mauritius and Mozambique.

For a specific personal quote based on any tailor made itinerary you have in mind, please contact us and we’ll be happy to help you.
