A small hotel in Ruhengeri town with a vibrant local market and friendly service. There is a dining room with an outside terrace and tables in the small garden. Bar snacks and sometimes barbeques and buffets are availble.

The reception is friendly and the rooms basic but comfortable. It's well placed for factilities in the town and about 30 minutes from the park HQ for gorilla treks.

La Palme Hotel has a comfortable atmosphere and friendly staff. there are 48 rooms including 4 big suites which are traditionally furnished. All our rooms are self-contained with: WIFI Internet Access, 24-Hour Room Service, Double bed, Telephone, More than 15 TV Satellite Channels, Private bathroom and office.

Pricing guidelines for Rwanda

We hope the following will give you a rough idea of costs. These are quoted per person based on twin share for two people, without international flights but including internal flights. We’ve used good standard accommodation throughout. There are nearly always ways to spend more money than we’ve suggested (!), but these prices show a good and realistic range for each type of trip.

International flights will add from about £600 to £800 depending on the season and route (unless the airlines have special offers). Rwanda combines well with Uganda or the East African coast. Please note that gorillas permits add on US$500 per visit, rising to US$750 for permits sold after 1st June 2012 for 2012 treks and for all 2013 treks. We charge these to you at the time of booking.

For each accommodation on this website you will find an indication of the price. The bands are based on the price per person per night at peak season and are represented by the following values for this country:

I called into this hotel whilst in Ruhengeri and had lunch in the outdoor bar area. The staff were friendly and service fairly quick. There was a big local group of businessmen having lunch as well and the service was not really held up by this, so I think they are used to dealing with a lot of visitors. This is a 'main stream' hotel that could really be anywhere in Africa, so if you want somewhere with more of a 'safari lodge' feel and views of the mountains, then go for something else, but if you want to explore the markets and cultural sights of Ruhengeri town and prefer a 'hotel' feel at a good price, then La Palme is fine.
