Nyanza

About Nyanza

  • Close Panel

Nyanza is a small town on a short side road off the main Kigali - Butare road. It has wide, dusty strets and not many tourist facilities. However, it is a fair size town and is now expanding as industry develops in Rwanda.

The most common reason to stop here is to visit the Rukali Palace Museum, the old 'seat of the king'.

Another claim to fame is that the film King Solomon's Mines was shown to the king, queen and royal courtiers as it was partly filmed in Rwanda.

The Nyabisindu National Dairy can be found here and is the largest dairy in Rwanda. You can visit here for a tour, best to book in advance.
