    About Sacsayhuaman

    • Close Panel
Conventional thought suggests that Sacsayhuaman was built by Pachacuti and formed the head of the Puma. There are many areas of interest here. The huge zigzag walls contain stones over 300 tonnes and their construction without mortar is a marvel. Opposite these walls is the Rodadero a huge glacially striated rock. On the Cusco side the rock is carved with seemingly pointless steps and niches, on the far side it is smooth enough to use it as a slide, as the children of the area have been for thousands of years.
