    About Colca Lodge

    • Close Panel
Colca Lodge is located in the midst of ancestral farming terraces at 3,250 metres elevation in the Colca Valley, 5 hours from the city of Arequipa. Its’ privileged location close to the Colca River provides the perfect base for exploring the pre-Inca history of the valley and for viewing the magnificent Andean Condor. The lodge is affiliated to the Hoteles Libertador Peru chain.

The rustic 36 bedroom lodge is built of traditional materials in keeping with the natural environment. There are two suites as well as double, twin, triple and quad rooms.  All rooms have heating, hot water (from solar power), mini bar and a terrace, but no TVs. Hot water bottles are put in the beds at night which are always very welcome for the cold nights (especially in June)! Additional facilities include a restaurant, living room with a large fireplace, bar and games room. A particular attraction are 3 private thermal baths which are fed by volcanic hot springs –a perfect place to relax under a star-filled sky after a day of exploring the Colca Valley! Note the thermal baths are closed in February and March.

Most people who visit Colca Lodge will be accompanied by their own guide and driver and will explore traditional Colca villages and visit the Cruz del Condor. For those with some free time the lodge offers activities (for an additional charge) including horse riding and trout fishing. There are also a number of interesting walks in the area surrounding the lodge, including trails to the Uyo Uyo ruins and the ‘Amphitheatre’ where the pre-Incas used to prepare the finest seeds to be stored at the ‘Colcas.’

    Pricing guidelines for Peru

    • Open Panel

We hope the following will give you a rough idea of costs. These are quoted per person based on twin share for two people, without international flights but including internal flights. We’ve used good standard accommodation throughout. There are nearly always ways to spend more money than we’ve suggested (!), but these prices show a good and realistic range for each type of trip.

International flights will add from about £750 to £1000 depending on the season and route (unless the airlines have special offers). Peru combines very well with Ecuador (including the Galapagos Island), but can also be linked with Brazil.

For a specific personal quote based on any tailor made itinerary you have in mind, please contact us and we’ll be happy to help you.
