The largest stupa in Nepal, Boudhanath is one of the most important Buddhist sites in the country.

Located about an hour's drive from Kathmandu at an altitude of 1,500m, Dhulikhel is a typical Newari hill town surrounded by Tamang villages famous for its mountain views.

Durbar is Nepali word for palace, and Durbar Square is the name of the plaza opposite the old Royal Palace in the once independent kingdoms of Kathmandu, Patan and Bhaktapur. The Durbar Square of each city is crowded with temples and culture, and is the heart of the town.

Lumbini (Sanskrit for "the lovely") is the birthplace of the Buddha and the source not just of one of the world's primary religions, but is also the site of one of Nepal's most significant archeological attractions. It is a major sight of pilgrimage for Buddhists.

Nagarkot is a small village close to Kathmandu famous for its panoramic mountain views.

Commonly known as the monkey temple, due to the large numbers of monkeys that roam the temple complex, Swayambhunath is one of Kathmandu's oldest and most sacred religious sites.
