An adventure in Nepal

A really varied adventure in Nepal - sightseeing, trekking, whitewater rafting and wildlife viewing

Nepal really isn’t just about trekking and temples! This trip shows just how much more there is to this fabulous country.

Whether you’re a couple, group of friends, or a family with children (we’d suggest from about 12-years-plus, mainly due to the rafting), you’ll come away from this holiday with a huge smile on your face and incredible memories to treasure.

The trip includes the 'must-see' sights in the Kathmandu Valley, such as Patan City, Durbar Square, Boudhnath and Swayambunath Stupas, and Bhaktapur.

Then there is adventure - a white water rafting trip on the Trisuli River. It's mostly grade 2-3 rapids (no higher) so it feels thrilling and intrepid without being too scary for someone who's never done it before.

We stop the rafting an hour or so's drive away from Chitwan.  Once here you start you wildife experiences, with elephant-back safaris, canoe rides, walks, and jeep safaris (if in season).  With lukc you'll spot some great birdlife, a variety of wildlife such as gharials, spotted deer, monkeys, and hopefully also the Asian one-horned rhino.  Tigers are possible, but quite rarely seen, so this would be a huge bonus if that happened.

Heading back north you then head for the ancient hilltop town of Bandipur before arriving in Pokhara. Walks, hikes, lake boat trips, and seeing the sunrise a lighting up the Himalayas - it's all possible from here.

Nepal really does put a smile on your face!

There is a special 2012 price for this itinerary (see below).

Included

Accommodation based on twin share; all transfers; white water rafting excursion; jungle activities in Chitwan (elephant-back safari, short canoe safari, nature walk, ox-cart ride to Tharu village);tour of Pokhara; flight from Pokhara to Kathmandu; guided tours of Kathmandu, Patan City, Bhaktapur (including main sites e.g. Swayambunath, Boudhnath)

International airfares, taxes, visas, insurance, some meals and drinks, items of a personal nature.

Is it for you?

This is not an arduous trekking trip, and is very varied, so really it is ideal for most people wanting a diverse experience of Nepal. Children will also love it, though if you decide to keep in the rafting element, we'd recommend no younger than about 12 years old. You can always tweak the itinerary to remove this element though.

Best time

September to May, which avoids the monsoon season. The months of December and January are quite cold, especially higher up of course, but can still be a nice time to do this trip.

Getting there

You need to fly to Kathmandu. There are no direct flights from the UK, so you need to go via India or the Middle East. Flights cost from roughly £700 depending on the date and availability.

Pricing guidelines for Nepal

  • Open Panel

We hope the following will give you a rough idea of costs. These are quoted per person based on twin share for two people, without international flights but including internal flights. We’ve used good standard accommodation throughout. There are nearly always ways to spend more money than we’ve suggested (!), but these prices show a good and realistic range for each type of trip.

International flights will add from about £750 to £1100 depending on the season and route (unless the airlines have special offers). Nepal combines well with India.

For a specific personal quote based on any tailor made itinerary you have in mind, please contact us and we’ll be happy to help you.
