Set in mid-western Nepal, Bardia is the largest and most undisturbed wilderness area in the Nepalese Terai.

Chitwan National park is the best known and most popular of Nepal's park, and you can fly, drive or raft down to the lowland Terai to get there. Whichever way you choose, you will be impressed by the range of wildlife you can see here.

The Himalayas is one of the world's most impressive mountain ranges. The scenery is spectacular with vistas of snow-capped mountains, and razor-edged ridges framing gorgeous valleys. It is a region with huge opportunities for a great holiday which could be taken either in Nepal or India.

The Kathmandu Valley is at the heart of Nepal. It was once home to three independent kingdoms, now the modern cities of Kathmandu, Patan and Bhaktapur and contains many important temples and monuments. On the rim of the valley, Dulikhel and Nagakot are hill stations which offer beautiful mountain views and great opportunity for trekking.

This reserve lies on the flood plains of the Sapta Koshi River in the south eastern lowlands.

Sagamartha is the Nepalese name for Mount Everest, and the Sagamartha National Park was established in 1976 to protect this region. As well as Mount Everest, the park includes many other famous peaks, including Lohtse and Amu Dablam. The park can only reached by several days trek from the nearest airstrip at Lukla, or an even longer trek from the nearest roadhead at Jiri. Yaks and human porters carry supplies for the approximately 3,000 sherpas who make their homes in some of the remotest and highest villages in the world.

The Annapurnas are one of Nepal's, and indeed the world's best trekking areas. A short drive from the town of Pokhara are numerous excellent trails which take you through beautiful mountain scenery, passing through remote Himalayan villages with spectacular views of the Annapurnas range. There is comfortable accommodation along the main trekking routes, staying in simple mountain lodges.

The Terai is the belt of lowland grasslands and forests at the base of the Himalayas, rich in culture and wildlife. This region contains Nepal's best wildlife parks, including Chitwan Bardia and Koshi Tapu. Originally inhabited by the Tharu people, since the eradication of malaria in the 1950s there has been a growing population of immigrants from other parts of Nepal.
