The only camp inside Bardia National Park, Karnali Camp provides very comfortable accommodation on the banks of the wide Karnali River, surrounded by lush forest.
There are 12 spacious tents with comfortable beds and en-suite bathrooms equipped with piping hot water. There is no electricity in the lodge, but kerosene lamps are provided to light your tents. A campfire is lit inside the central thatched-roofed restaurant, whuch serves Nepali and Western cusine and the bar is open until the last guest retires to bed.
The tented camp offers safaris by elephant, jeep, canoe and on foot. In addition, the camp has its own inflatable raft for rafting trips along the Karnali River. From the lodge, it is a fascinating 3-4 hour trip downstream with the chance to see lots of birdlife and animals, including the rare Gangetic dolphin, before returning to your camp by jeep.
The tented camp is run by the same people as Karnali Lodge, and it is a good idea to split your time in Bardia between both excellent locations to get the most out of your visit.
