About Bazaruto Lodge

  • Close Panel

Bazaruto Lodge is on the largest island of the Bazaruto Archipelago, approximately 800km north of Maputo (the capital of Mozambique). It is situated in a bay on the north side of the island. The island - carefully protected as a Nature Reserve Park - is a beautiful and unspoilt destination, characterized by its wild fauna, turquoise sea and idyllic beaches. The Lodge offers a unique combination of beauty, comfort and relaxation that makes it the perfect spot for nature lovers, divers, fisherman and water sport enthusiasts.

The lodge has 40 bungalows made of 13 standard rooms of which one is a family room, 23 superior rooms of which one is a family room plus 4 suites (Bedroom and separate lounge), set amongst tropical gardens with magnificent views. All rooms are in “A-frame” thatched chalets, which are positioned along a walkway, all facing the ocean. Every bungalow accommodates double or single occupancy and is equipped with air-conditioning and ceiling fan, and a private bathroom with enclosed outdoor shower.

The best diving months are from April to September. Please note that from September to November, the weather is mostly good but visibility can be reduced due to plankton. If you are an avid diver, then April to August will give the best visibility. December to March is usually when tropical storms occur, especially around February and March.

There are lots of activities on offer here with many great beaches and reefs to be explored. Some others are:

Sand Boarding. Guests are required to walk to the top of the dunes, please note that this walk is extremely long due to the fact that no vehicles are allowed to be driven on the dunes.

Mangrove River. 25 minutes by boat. This is done during high tide only. Good snorkelling and birding.

Sunset Dhow Cruise. The sunset cruise is in the bay in front of the hotel. Bookings to be made a day in advance. Each Dhow for groups can take a max of 10 Pax. Requirement for group bookings is 10 days in advance.

Pricing guidelines for Mozambique

  • Open Panel

We hope the following will give you a rough idea of costs. These are quoted per person based on twin share for two people, without international flights but including internal flights. We’ve used good standard accommodation throughout. There are nearly always ways to spend more money than we’ve suggested (!), but these prices show a good and realistic range for each type of trip.

International flights will add from about £700 to £900 depending on the season and route (unless the airlines have special offers). Return flights from Joburg to Pemba (in northern Mozambique) will add on roughly £400. Mozambique combines well with South Africa, Malawi and southern Tanzania.

For each accommodation on this website you will find an indication of the price. The bands are based on the price per person per night at peak season and are represented by the following values for this country:

  £50 to £150
