Maputo

About Maputo

  • Close Panel

The capital city and largest city in Mozambique, Maputo sits to the south of the country on the west side of Maputo Bay on the mouth of Tembe River. The mix of cultures built up over centuries from traders means that there is a combination of Bantu, Portuguese, Arab, Indian and Chinese people with a strong influence from neighbouring South Africa.

There are many lovely restaurants and cafes and busy local markets with a mix of accommodation levels. The surrounding coastline has some great beaches and dive spots.
