About Vamizi Island Lodge

  • Close Panel

Vamizi Island Lodge is set on the edge of the Indian Ocean on an 8km stretch of sandy beach. There are 10 luxury beach villas including 2 family villas, all set 70 metres apart to ensure privacy and seclusion. The roofs of the lodge are makuti (palm) thatch and the rooms are large, with high ceilings. All have ensuite bathrooms. The bedrooms have 4-poster king-size beds with free-standing frames draped in natural muslin mosquito nets. The burnt orange curtains are a fine muslin fabric, which complements the indigo and natural colours in the room. All rooms have a private lounge leading off from the bedroom, with deep cane couches and colonial-style planters chairs. There is a central lounge and bar area where guests can meet. The outside decks have a selection of swinging beds and loungers where guest can relax.

Vamizi Island Lodge has been designed to complement the environment. The construction uses almost entirely local materials (timber, thatch and stone all come from the mainland or the islands themselves), thus providing help to the local economy.

Guests at the lodge can enjoy a range of activities including swimming, diving, dhow sailing, fishing and visits to local villages and nearby Rongui Island.

Pricing guidelines for Mozambique

  • Open Panel

We hope the following will give you a rough idea of costs. These are quoted per person based on twin share for two people, without international flights but including internal flights. We’ve used good standard accommodation throughout. There are nearly always ways to spend more money than we’ve suggested (!), but these prices show a good and realistic range for each type of trip.

International flights will add from about £700 to £900 depending on the season and route (unless the airlines have special offers). Return flights from Joburg to Pemba (in northern Mozambique) will add on roughly £400. Mozambique combines well with South Africa, Malawi and southern Tanzania.

For a specific personal quote based on any tailor made itinerary you have in mind, please contact us and we’ll be happy to help you.
